FC United of Manchester v Worcester City - Friday 2nd October 2015 7.45 pm Kick Off

City travel north on Friday evening to Broadhurst Park to face FC United of Manchester in the Vanarama National League North - 7.45pm Kick Off. It will be the first meeting between the two clubs.

City go into the game on the back of a first League away win, at Corby two weeks ago (3-0) and a win over Holbeach United in the FA Cup after a replay losing just one of the last six games.

City's joint top goalscorer on 5 goals Lee Hughes is fit after coming on as a sub in the Holbeach replay as is Daniel Nti, also on 5. Tyler Weir looks set to keep his place after starting in the cup replay for the first time since picking up an injury during the 0-0 draw at Stockport on 5th September.

FC United got off to a poor start losing three and drawing one of their opening four games (Gloucester City 1-0, Stockport County 1-2 , Tamworth 1-1, Chorley 3-0 but they then picked up to win four out of the next five games including a 1-4 win away at Lowestoft Town, although they have faltered recently losing their last two league games. They beat Witton Albion 3-1 in the FA Cup last weekend.

FC United of Manchester is a community football club owned and democratically run by its 4749 members. Its corporate structure is a Community Benefit Society and membership is open to all, with everyone an equal co-owner, holding one voting share in the club.

The Ground is the newest in the UK and the first to be built as a Supporter Owned Club with funding coming from various sources including a Community Share Scheme and close to a further £1 million from other fundraising. Grant funding has also been provided from Sport England (Iconic Facilities Fund), the Football Foundation (FSIF), Football Foundation (Community Facilities Fund), Manchester City Council, Social Investment Business (My Community Rights), Manchester College and Viridor.

FC United was formed in 2005 as was set up in protest to Malcolm Glazer's takeover of Manchester United' is a statement often used to describe FC United. But while there is no doubt that FC would not have happened without the American invasion, it was the catalyst, the final straw, but not the sole reason.
