City battle valliantly but fall to AFC Fylde

In an opening 40 minutes of both sides cancelling each other out, there were no real chances of note. The result was a game of long ball, which both defenses were well on top of.

City went close to taking the lead in the 40th minute as Colby Bishop was played through by Cieron Keane. The striker, all alone in the Fylde box got a shot away, only to be saved by Taylor in the Fylde goal. Fylde immidiately countered and the ball fell to Danny Rowe, on the edge of the area, who drove a low effort past Ethan Ross, giving the visitors the lead.

Fylde then doubled their lead 5 minutes later, once again through Danny Rowe. A cross came in from the left which Tom Sharpe glanced towards his own goal. Ethan Ross tipped it acrobatically on to the crossbar. Danny Rowe was there to tap in the rebound and double Fylde's lead.

City started the second half much livelier, pushing Fylde back and pressing higher up the pitch. There was a real sense of urgency. City's pressure was rewarded in the 54th minute as Ebby Nelson-Addy broke forward and was tripped on 25 yards. Cieron Keane stepped up and curled a wonderful effort beyond Rhys Taylor.

City almost grabbed an equaliser late on as Colby Bishop capitalized on a mistake at the back, but as he burst forward, Rhys Taylor saved low to deny the City striker.

The game ended with Fylde holding out to take all 3 points from The Victoria Ground.
